Trooper Phil
Greetings from France,
I'd like to introduce me: I am a 47 old guy, married, 1 daughter. Main main hobbies are about american cars and police memorabilia collection. When I was a teen, I never missed any episode of Chips; I was fascinated by the smart CHP officers riding their bike around L.A. to chase speeders and law offenders. Chips was really one fo my favorite police tv shows. As a police memorabilia collector, I tried to get some CHP items and now, I have a complete uniform, some patches and 2 welldone badge copies. But I have a nother piece in my collection, the master piece..................... I am the proud owner of a 1991 police Ford CHP cruiser replica. I previously owned a 1956 Buick Century civil sedan that I turned into a Massachusetts State Police cruiser replica. I enjoyed it during 11 years but I wanted more............... I wanted a real police cruiser; I had the chance to find one in Germany 2 years ago; it was marked as a San Francisco cruiser; but the Chips images turend in my mind, so I turned it as a CHP cruiser; I would prefer a 1978 cruiser but it was impossible to find any in Europe, so I bought the 1991 Police Interceptor. Well this is my story and I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my interets in Chips with you. This web site is very great, I enjoyed a lot the video clips, bravo for this fine you did. |

Hey,
yeah, we Germans had no CHiPs reruns for 8 years now, so we know CHiPs mostly from our old video tapes or remembers. Until CHiPs will come out on DVD, there seems to be no chance to see it again. To the CHP cruisers ... I was always asking myself how fast they could drive and what kind of fuel they needed. In America they don̫̉t have so much kinds of fuel, haven̫̉t they? I'd love to see Chip's on french channels, there is a long time the show has not been broadcasted. I did not find vhs or dvd, what a pity, it seems there is not commercial market for the show. I am going to buy the '99 movie, did you already seen it ? I guess yes, how is it ?
Well concerning my CHP collection, I am fortunate to get an almost complete officer uniform. I miss some leather gear items and genuine shirts but I have enough to be dressed when I attand cars shows. I also have 3 badges copies, a vintage peaked cap and oyster revolver holster. Concerning my vic fuel, it uses 95 unloaded fuel, it is cheaper than loaded fuel and it uses 17L/100km. Parts are not so difficult to find and I did not get any mechanic troubles but only electrical ones. Oh, I just get a scanner to complete the inner police equipment. I just have some cosmetic works to complete the exterior looking such as installing roof and rear fender antennas. Does anybody here have a CHP memorabilia collection ? |

I think none of us here has any CHP memorabilia that comes even close to yours Phil. My collection consist of a CHiPs viewmaster set, a CHP patch, a CHP pin and the episodes I recorded of TV and that's it.
The '99 movie is not bad and has some good action in it but it's more or less a repeat from the pilot episode. Of course Jon and Ponch are a lot older and greyer and....fatter! It really is sad that they still haven't released the series. The show had good ratings and went on for 6 seasons. Which is a lot longer than some of the shows that are already out on dvd like ALF! When you drive your CHP Cruiser....don't you ever feel the need to pull people over when they're in violation of let's say, not wearing their seatbelt ? http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9329/siggy7ew.jpg[/img] |

Your collection is a beginning Jessy, I know it is quiet hard to collect police memorabilia, do you have any relationship with american cops or american Chip's fans ?
Well, pull over poeple? Yes of course especially I when I daily drive, there are so many traffic misconduct, but I am not a cop............ |

No I can't say that I do. But I'm only a fan of the series. I like the real CHP and everything that goes with it too but not so much that I would want my own Cruiser or Kawasaki. Besides you need a place to stall it and enough money to buy and maintain it and I have neither. But I don't mind. I'm happy with what I have.
Have you ever attend the American Power On Wheels event that we have over here in Antwerp every year ? http://users.pandora.be/ccc/apow_frans.htm It's a meeting for all types of US Cars and Bikes and it's growing bigger every year. People from all over the world show up there to display their pride and joy. There are some real beauties amongst them. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9329/siggy7ew.jpg[/img] |

Oh it's been at least 7-8 years since they last aired it here and then only the first season. But I recorded my episodes many years before that from different channels. I even have some tapes with episodes I recorded from the French channels and are dubbed in French.
You can have them if you like but some are incomplete with bits missing here and there and the quality isn't that good but they're still better than nothing I guess. I will upload a clip from one of the French tapes for you so you'll see what I mean. I remember only taping the scenes that had Jon and Ponch in it because I couldn't speak the language well enough to understand everything else that was said. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9329/siggy7ew.jpg[/img] |

Oh that's right, I made another clip before and turned the sound off haha but not to worry, I'll upload it to YouTube then you will be able to watch it.
I would only ask money for the shipping costs, you can have the tapes for free. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9329/siggy7ew.jpg[/img] |
